Using abstract concepts and maps of the old town, I conveyed the way that Hoi An feels to residents and visitors alike. The hustle and bustle, colour and noise: the watery nature of the place, the romance and the rice fields. Half of the exhibition was sold to locals and visitors in the first week.

These etchings were produced at the Northern Print studio in Ouseburn, Newcatsle-upon-Tyne during the summer of 2016 with the express intent of introducing some contemporary etchings to Vietnam. I have not yet found any evidence of acid etching in Vietnam which is a great sadness to me.
This was my second solo exhibition in Hanoi and the debut exhibition for my new collection of etchings of Vietnam. Thank you Hanoi for making this such a big success!
This exhibtion will my first of large acryic paintings on canvas. My aim, as an artist, is always to reveal the beauty of Vietnam that we often rush past. In this exhibition I am highlighting the windows of Vietnam because they are one of the vital ingredients that give any street it character in every village, town and city and village in the world. As usual, my canvasses are full of vibrant colour, plant life and the ever present roar of traffic!
Ahead of the publication of my Book 'Sensational Saigon', this is the first exhibtion in which I will exhibit some of the illustratinos from the book. Held in the delightful surroundings of Le Saigonais, this will be a good place to meet and share art.
I will be exhibiting with three other watercolour artists: -
Jean Marc Potlet of Aix en Provence, France
Le Saigonais, 77-79 Ly Tu Trong, D1, Saigon. 16 Sept - 18th Oct.
